Cynthia Gonzalez is a Mexican American artist, raised in San Jose, California. She has been painting since 2003 and sculpting since 2009. Her work is vibrant in color and packed with sibylline symbolism. She is incorporating found objects and non-traditional mediums like felt and caulking to create eccentric and unusual things. Her work is inspired by dreams, nightmares, and mental illness, she visually communicates the anxiety and daily dysphoria that is a familiar recurrence in her everyday life. She graduated from San Jose State with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts with her primary focus in sculpture. She presently has work in Kaleid Gallery in San Jose and has been participating in the South First Street art walks since 2012.
