Playful yet unsettling, the work navigates identity and belonging through raw, expressive forms that feel both deeply personal and universally familiar.
Cynthia Yarida Gonzalez is a multidisciplinary artist working across sculpture, painting, and craft, blending traditional and contemporary approaches into a distinct visual language. Through ceramics, textiles, installation, and mixed media, they create bold, expressive forms that navigate identity, cultural memory, and the tension of existing in-between.

Rooted in their experiences as a Mexican American artist, Gonzalez’s work carries a mix of humor, discomfort, and nostalgia—often filtering complex, adult themes through a deceptively playful lens. Their practice is both intuitive and driven by a constant need to make, experiment, and explore across mediums.

Moving fluidly between fine art and craft, Gonzalez transforms lived experience into work that is raw, familiar, and emotionally charged.
